There are numerous websites that fascinate you by offering freebies such as wallpapers, screensavers etc. If you are seduced into downloading those free programs, a special code attached to thee screen saver, wallpaper code may also be downloaded to your machine. This code has an evil intention of spying your activities such as the keys you type in the keyboard, the data you enter in various forms etc .
These spyware programs also have an exceptional ability to download programs into our computer system without our consent. The spywares which were caught red-handed so far had been scrutinized by the various design experts. The results of the research revealed that only a small percentage of spywares were being listed in the Add/ Remove programs section of the Control panel and could be easily uninstalled manually to hundred percent. If you are using vista Operating system the listing of installed programs can be seen from ‘Programs & features’ section of control panel. Several spywares have the ability to reinstall themselves from the residues residing in our system. So the importance of installing an anti-spyware tool in our system cannot be dismissed. The code cannot be solely viewed as an adware.
Apart from using this personal information gathered for choosing the advertisements that could be sent to you, the information could also be handed over to some other party posing indirect threats of serious nature. Moreover the path created by the spyware for sending confidential details continuously to parent marketing companies, is not a secure connection and hence hackers could easily get those data by trapping the data during its journey. There are also spyware programs that are sold legally. An example would be the one sold to adults to monitor the internet and computer usage pattern of their children. You have to be cautious with fake anti-spyware products which may feign discharging duties of an anti-spyware tool by giving false warnings, messages on updation of the database etc.
These may be none other than the spyware programs themselves! In simple words, it is life the thief entering your house in the disguise of a police personnel. There are some guides available which provide information on manual removal. But you could end in landing up more trouble by doing unnecessary experiments.
After removal of firewall do not forget to restart the system even if windows operating system does not instruct you to do so. This is for ensuring that all the files and processes were removed without any remains. In case if the spyware programs come into picture again, repeat the restart process thrice. Even after that if the spyware programs come into existence, you may try reinstalling in safe mode, as reinstalling in safe mode causes only limited number of processes to be activated.
As the concept of spyware is completely different from that of virus, it could not be removed with an anti-virus program. The most common variety of spywares are the Trojan horses.
