Windows operated computers often slow down as they get older just like their owners do. When you first start up your new computer it is fast and speeds along as you surf the internet. You click from one website to the next with no hesitation.
However after some time--and it could take some years--the machine is obviously slowing down. It now takes longer for the computer to boot up. Clicking from one website to the next is becoming slow motion. With the passage of time it slows down increasingly.
What is the problem? Why should your formerly fast computer now crawl along at a dead slow pace? There is a very simple answer in many cases-- the Windows registry has become choked with unecessary material.
What is the Windows registry? Put in simple terms it is a databank of information which Windows uses to run the computer and programs installed on it. All Windows computers from Windows 95 on have had a registry.
In time as the computer is used the Windows registry is corrupted by thousands of unwanted fragments of data. There are fragments of programs which were never completely uninstalled, programs which were never really installed completely, unused drivers, never used shortcuts and a lot more besides.
It is very probable that you have in addition some spyware in the computer. This spyware has been installed without your consent and is carrying on it's business quietly. In other words your registry is loaded full of pieces of unwanted data which the operating system must thread it's way through while doing it's job of running the computer.
The overload of junk in the registry causes your computer to run very slowly and can also cause freezing problems. The best way to solve this nasty problem is to clean all the junk from the registry.
How should you go about this? All Windows operated computers have a function called regedit installed which is designed to be used for this purpose. So long as you are aware of what entries you should not remove and which items should be deleted you will not have a problem. Just delete the data you don't want in the registry and the job is done.
It seems to be really simple. But is it actually that easy? Are you sure you know which items cannot be removed the registry? Removing some of these entries could put your computer completely out of action. They are essential data needed to operate the computer. Some other entries may be needed to run programs. Can you really tell which is which? If you cannot tell it would be very unwise to try a manual registry cleanup.
There is an easier way however. There are a number of registry cleaning applications being offered on the internet. We have tested most of them and would say they all do the job of cleaning your registry. However some are easier to use and give better results than others. These programs all will do the job of cleaning your registry but some are definitely better than others.
You will be offered a free scan from some of the applications on the internet to determine if you have a registry problem, then you should consider what you want to do to correct it.
